Will you pay 50 bucks to get into Six Flags for a 10 dollar treat? Or wait for the annual carnival to come to town? The circus? Forget it. The Ringling Brothers are all the way in Idaho, Fool!

Smell that? Yes, it is in fact the savory smell of soft, powdered sugar being snowed ever so gently onto a deep-fried disc of webbed dough, crunchy on the outside, but moist on the inside. It’s still hot enough to burn the tip of your tongue!

Your troubles are over! Coming Spring 2011 will be the grand opening of Data’s Funnel Cakes, a mobilized army of funnel cake stands located right around the corner from anywhere you are.

Turtlist Media can’t wait!

As you may or may not know, our newest direction is now to become a production group of creative content that encourages Asian Americans in the arts. However we still strongly believe in the need to highlight Asian Americans doing big things and making statements, but we are doing so through new, high quality collaborative projects that will allow artists of all kinds to showcase their talents without the limitations of equipment or unfamiliar mediums. Because of these shared goals, ChannelAPA and Turtlist Media have decided to collaborate and you should soon be seeing some of our stuff on ChannelAPA.com on a regular basis. It doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to see here, of course. Check back often to the latest projects and news happening with TurtlistMedia.com! Thank you for all the support throughout the last two years!

Best,

After an exciting year of shows, news coverage, and even a feature on a Dayquil commercial, PaperDoll, an indie band with an electro pop rock sound, has recently won Kollaboration NY.

Last summer we covered PaperDoll, a talented pop rock band from New York City. Unfortunately the footage of the interview and performances was lost somewhere in the midst, but we have nonetheless been an avid follower of this band who will most definitely be blowing up our radio stations in no time.

PaperDoll was named somewhat frantically after a song they performed when they first got together. After that, the name stuck and a regular performers at the Crash Mansion venue in NYC.

The band is a collaboration of four individuals who meet up regularly in between their day jobs. They love their art and they love what they are doing. PaperDoll exemplifies a group who are about the music and the rush of performing before any kind of political or social commentary.

The band practices often at the Music Room on 8th Avenue, a dark building graffitied on every wall, lit ever so dim, and hallways filled with the sounds of New York’s finest independent rockers.

Their latest album, “Ballad Nerd Pop”, is appropriately named. Their catchy electro pop rock sound invokes the carefree, no responsibilities attitude of summer while its lyrics are also full of an emotional depth that balances their upbeat melodies.

Check them out on

HBO’s East of Main Street, a special feature sharing the life experiences of Asian Americans, is available for free online viewing for a few more days! As lived experiences impact so much of what humans become and the way they affect the world around them, this is an incredibly relatable series of accounts that showcases the diverse, intersecting experiences of Asian America. Turtlist loves it because of the way in which it gives voice and complexity to those who rarely get it.

WHAT: The Mikado Project is a musical comedy feature film based on the play written by Ken Narasaki and Doris Baizley and adapted for film by Chil Kong. The Mikado Project has officially been selected and will world premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film festival organized by Visual Communications.
