About

Founded by Jason Lee in the summer of 2008, Turtlist Media is an organization that is committed to the encouragement, support and networking of Asian Americans in the arts at all levels.

Turtlist Media actually started as a personal site for Lee’s media work, but soon turned into an organization run by a talented team of various correspondents from all parts of the country.

Today, the organization seeks to be a creative producer of content that encourages Asian Americans in the arts.

The organization does not seek to promote an “Asian American genre”, but rather encourage more Asian Americans to pursue whatever it is they are most passionate about. Art comes first, but it is important to retain a consciousness of who one represents with the empowering voice the art mediums hold.

“Turtlist” comes from the nickname “Turtle”, given to Jason during his time in the military, when his glasses and shaved head caused a striking resemblance the animal.
